At Winthrop Youth Hockey, we are committed to providing our young athletes with the best opportunities for skill development and growth. To enhance our regular skills sessions, we've partnered with ProSkills Development, a premier training organization dedicated to helping hockey players reach their full potential. Every Tuesday night, their expert coaches bring high-level, specialized training to our rink, giving our players the tools they need to succeed on the ice.
About ProSkills Development:
ProSkills Development focuses on building well-rounded athletes by emphasizing skill, speed, and hockey IQ. Their team of experienced coaches is dedicated to helping young players sharpen their technique and gain a competitive edge. Through this partnership, we aim to provide our players with elite training programs that foster development, confidence, and excellence on the ice.
What to Expect:
Every Tuesday night, ProSkills Development leads high-intensity training sessions designed to enhance core hockey skills, including:
- Skating & edge work
- Stickhandling & puck control
- Shooting & scoring techniques
- Defensive skills & positioning
These sessions are tailored to different age groups and skill levels, ensuring that every player receives appropriate instruction to maximize their development.
Specialized Goalie Training with Shield Goalie Academy:
In addition to our player development programs, we've partnered with Shield Goalie Academy to provide specialized training for our goaltenders during Tuesday night sessions. Shield Goalie Academy is renowned for its high-level coaching for goalies of all ages, focusing on personalized instruction that addresses each goalie's strengths and weaknesses to develop a complete skill set.
Their training emphasizes foundational elements such as stance, balance, and movement, which are crucial traits for any goalie, regardless of age or ability. By concentrating on these principles, Shield Goalie Academy helps goalies elevate their entire game to the next level.
No Additional Cost Thanks to Fundraising Efforts:
One of the best parts of this program is that it comes at no additional cost to families, thanks to the fundraising efforts of Winthrop Youth Hockey. We are committed to making top-tier training accessible to all players, and our partnerships with ProSkills Development and Shield Goalie Academy allow us to continue providing elite instruction as part of our regular skills sessions.
